It only took a month for the newly launched Genesis Racing Shocks company
to get into victory lane. On March 1 Genesis Racing Shocks, founded by
industry stalwarts Mike Farr and Mike Lutz, went into production and on
April 2 victory lane was found when east coast dirt Late Model star Allen
Brannon took an impressive feature win at Frank Plessinger’s famed
Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD.
Starting in the eighth starting spot of the main event Brannon, of
Stephens City, VA, took the lead with six laps remaining and took the
convincing win in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Late Model main event driving
his Genesis Racing Shocks equipped Dehaven Well Drilling, Brannon Homes &
Excavating, Circle Track Supply-sponsored Rocket Chassis/Hershey Racing
Engines #30.
“I think they are going to be alright, to put it mildly,” stated Brannon,
who scored his second career feature win at Hagerstown Speedway. “We’ve
been close but we wanted to get an edge on everybody and I guess we were
one of the first cars to get the Genesis shocks so we put them on this
week for the first time, started eighth and won the race. The car felt
real good.”
“Well, I hoped it would come this soon but I think I was a little
optimistic about that and I knew we could produce a good race shock but
with all the variables in racing it came pretty damn quick,” was the
response of Mike Farr of Genesis Racing Shocks, based in Roswell, GA.
“Allen's a good racer and is up against some of the toughest competition
at Hagerstown. I mean when the touring series, like MACS, the World of
Outlaws or Lucas Oil Series come to Hagerstown Speedway they’re liable to
get out run by a Hagerstown local driver. They are some of the toughest
there is. I worked with Allen a little bit in the past and he always been
good to work with and open-minded so when he ordered shocks we built them
right away and built him a basic setup for his Rocket car.”
So why did Brannon take a chance with a new product? Why Genesis Racing
Shocks? “I thought about another brand and then I heard Mike was going
back in business to build shocks and when Mike was at another company he
helped me out quite a bit,” responded Brannon. “So when I talked to Mike
he told me about the company so we sent in an order when they got going
and here we got to victory lane.”
“It felt pretty good. They are a good product and Mike and his partner
Mike Lutz know shocks and know what to do. I’m more than happy with them.”
Genesis Racing Shocks, founded on March 1 by Mike Farr and Mike Lutz, are
two long-time industry mainstays with decades of combined experience in
shock absorber design, engineering and manufacturing.
