It was a cold Saturday night at Can Am Speedway this weekend… but the track was in excellent condition for the first night of racing.

Chip Burdick and Tiger Chapman have done a lot of work over the winter at the speedway and the facility was in excellent shape.

Chris liked the car right out of the box in the first hot lap session. “We came to the track with some different numbers in our set up Saturday night. We knew right away that the track would get slick with the Sprints there so even though I liked the car in the first session, we decided to change a bunch of things for the second session”.

Raabe started 13th and slowly started to work his way to the front. It was obvious from the start of the race that the 01 car was fairly neutral and well balanced. Using the inside of the track, the 01 car started to pick off cars one by one…. Then after a couple of caution flags… Chris found himself in third behind the 4 car.

“We kind of neutralized for a few laps and I knew I needed to search around. We tried the outside and the car seemed even quicker up top”, said Raabe. “So that is where I stayed for the rest of the race and when the caution came out with just 4 to go… I knew I would have a good shot at the 29 for the lead”.

That’s where the 01 went and it was on to the first checker of the year for Chris and the 01 team. The 01 team currently remains at the elusive 99 win mark! This week will mark the official beginning for the points run at Can Am for Chris and the 01 team… and that number 100 Dirt feature wins. Not too bad considering this is only season number 7 for Chris and the team.
